Sunday Services at Holy Trinity Church
Services of worship are held at 10.30 a.m. every Sunday, and at 6.30 p.m. on the
first Sunday of each month.
You do not need to have any church background to join us for these services – all
are welcome: regular churchgoers, occasional visitors, people who may never have
been to church at all but wonder what it might be like. Most of our services follow
a set pattern laid
down by the Church of England, and are led by a minister. Service details can be
found in the
card or booklet given out at the door when people arrive.
There are opportunities for the congregation to join in with responses, prayers
and (usually) music. Individuals are free to take part, or to sit quietly and listen
– whichever feels most appropriate. Some of our services include Holy Communion
– the sharing of bread and wine in memory of Jesus’ words and actions at the Last
Supper just before his death.
Towards the end of Holy Communion services, the congregation is invited to come
forward and receive a blessing from the priest, or (for people who have made a firm
commitment to the Christian faith in the presence of others, eg by confirmation
in the Church of England) to receive bread and wine. Coming forward is, however,
optional, and some people may prefer to remain in their seats.
Further details of forthcoming services can be found on the weekly church noticesheet
and monthly magazine, both available in the church.
